The Hawaiian Nēnē Goose is the rarest goose in the world and Hawaiʻi's state bird. Nēnē can be found on the islands of Hawaiʻi, Kauaʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi, and Oʻahu. This illustration depicts Nēnē geese next to the silversword plant on the summit of Haleakalā National Park on the island of Maui. Both the nēnē and silversword are protected and endemic species.
